Training for First-Year Students
The online library training helps you get started with the resources and services of the Library. During the training, you will learn how to search for literature, use library catalogue, order books, and access publications.This training is mandatory for first-year students at the Maritime University and must be completed during your first year of study.
Detailed information regarding the training, login procedures, and final test can be found on the library training webpage.
💡 Important: It is a good idea to register with the Maritime University Library before starting the training. Completing the library training does not automatically activate your library account.

Library Registration
Registering with the library gives You access to all services offered by the Maritime University Main Library, including:- logging into the library catalog,
- borrowing and reserving books,
- using the 24/7 book machine,
- renewing loan periods online,
- booking the Group Study Room,
- free access to the Legimi platform.
💡 Important: Completing the library training course does not automatically activate your library account.

Library Account
An active library account allows you to use all online Library services. Once logged in, you can order and reserve books, check current loans and due dates, renew loans, and book the Group Work Room.Students log in to the catalogue using their student ID number.
For the first login, PESEL number is the password. After logging in, the system will require you to change your password.
💡 Important: All library functions are available after logging in. Users who are not logged in can browse the catalogue but cannot order, reserve, or renew loans.

Searching
The library catalogue allows you to search for books, journals, articles, e-books, and other publications available in the library collections. Publications can be searched by author, title, subject, or keywords from the bibliographic description. Simply enter your search phrase into the search box.The catalog includes publications available to borrow, accessible only on-site in the reading rooms, e-books available online. You can check the location, item availability, and loan duration by opening the description of a selected publication.
💡 Important: When searching for scholarly articles and electronic collections, it is recommended to use the multisearch EDS tool, it simultaneously searches databases available at the Library, such as: ScienceDirect, EBSCO, IEEE Xplore, Springer, Wiley, and Knovel—as well as Open Access resources.

Publication Ordering
Log into your library account, only then you can order items available for loan directly from the library catalogue. Information regarding item availability, as well as how and when they can be accessed, is available in the item's detailed record. It is important to pay attention to loan duration. Books can be borrowed for 7, 31, or 180 days. Now you need to select your preferred pickup location (Lending Department or book vending machine) and submit your order for processing. The library will send an email notification when the books are ready for pickup.💡 Important: Ordered items are held for 3 business days. If all copies of a desired book are currently on loan, you may place a reservation. Once the item is returned by another user, the library will notify you via email that it is available for you to borrow.

Publications from Reading Rooms
Items available in reading rooms cannot be ordered for pickup at the Lending Department or book machine; they may only be used on-site in the reading room.For books, please note the call number of the desired item (e.g., Cz.000-96694/66).
For articles, please note the details from the "Search in:" field, which includes the journal title, year, and issue number.
💡 Important: You can create a list of selected articles directly from the catalog, print it out and bring or email it to the Library. It is very convenient especially when it comes to Magazine Articles, as a lot of them are available in our back room.

Borrowing
Students of the Maritime University of Technology may borrow up to 25 items at a time. Information regarding the loan status and duration can be found in the item description within the library catalog.Library materials are loaned for the following periods:
- 7 days
- 31 days
- 180 days
Electronic publications in PDF format are available in the library catalogue. To find e-books, use the "E-book format" filter and select the PDF option. Publications available for online loan are marked accordingly in the catalog. E-books are borrowed online after logging into your library account. The maximum loan period is 4 days. After this time, the publication is automatically removed from the user's account.
💡 Important: You can check your borrowed items and due dates on your library account. If the due date has not yet passed, you may extend the loan once, provided the item has not been reserved by another user. Regularly checking your account helps avoid overdue fines.

Returns and renewals
Information on current loans and due dates is available after logging into the library catalogue.Publications can be returned at the Main Library Lending Room or in the book vending machine. When returning an item in the book machine, scan the publication's barcode and then place the book in the appropriate compartment. You can extend the due date for a borrowed item yourself by logging into your library account.
Renewals are permitted once, provided the item has not been reserved by another user.
You can also renew items in person (Lending Room, Room 513B), via email at wypozyczalnia@pm.szczecin.pl, or by phone at 9148 09 710.
💡 Important: The library system sends email reminders about upcoming due dates. Please check your library account and keep track of due dates to avoid overdue fines. Detailed information regarding returns, renewals, and late return fees can be found in the Library Regulations.

Reading Rooms
Main Library is so much more than place to borrow books.We will welcome You, if you need a quiet place to study, work on projects or need to rest between classes.
In Book and Periodical Reading Room (rooms 502 and 504), you can make the most of our extended on-site collections (books and magazines).
Acoustic cabins—designed for both individuals and groups—are available to ensure a quiet and comfortable working environment.
Board games and simulator stations for students are also available. During the autumn and winter seasons, we provide free hot tea.
Multimedia Reading Room
A space dedicated to accessing electronic resources, working with digital materials, and searching for academic information.
Users have access to computers equipped with software commonly used during studies, including the full Microsoft Office suite, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Visio, Statistica, Matlab, Unity, and Visual Studio.

Group Work Room
Maritime University students can use the Group Work Room for collaborative study, projects, and preparing presentations. The room is equipped with interactive whiteboard and provides a comfortable environment for teamwork. Detailed information can be found in the "Group Work Room" section.Return to table of contents
